Tuesday Momentum: 25th Silver Anniversary Gala at the New Yorker Hotel

Throwing it back to February 1998 and our 25th Silver Anniversary Gala at the iconic New Yorker Hotel — a celebration that brought together passionate educators, scholars, and leaders in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.

The AATSP was founded in New York City in 1917, making our NYC Metropolitan Chapter the oldest in the nation.

Throwing it back to February 1998 and our 25th Silver Anniversary Gala at the iconic New Yorker Hotel — a celebration that brought together passionate educators, scholars, and leaders in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies. From keynote voices in journalism to powerful tributes to García Lorca, the day reflected what makes our Metro NY community so special: scholarship, cultura, and corazón.

Moments like these paved the way for the vibrant professional family we continue to grow today — most recently gathering for our 52nd Congreso Educativo in April 2025.

Here’s to honoring our legacy while inspiring the next generation of language educators. 💫
